Lauren “Grace” Hathaway
Originating from the Midwest, my journey into the world of media began in Omaha, Nebraska, where our family relocated in the late 1990s while my husband attended law school. At the time, I was a stay-at-home mom to a one-year-old, constantly researching fun and enriching things for us to do.
With a journalism degree and a natural curiosity, the idea of launching a parenting publication began to take shape. That vision became Omaha Family magazine. Despite having no prior experience in publishing, my husband and I jumped in and taught ourselves every aspect of producing, publishing, and distributing a monthly magazine.
Within just a few years, Omaha Family became the most widely distributed monthly magazine in the greater Omaha metropolitan area. We expanded our work with companion publications, many of which spotlighted local authors, artists, and entrepreneurs. That experience sparked my love for storytelling—especially when it meant helping others succeed.
After more than two decades, we sold Omaha Family. Around that time, our daughter Jordan was finishing college and beginning her career in public relations. She went on to work at a large national strategic communications firm, where she specialized in media relations and social media strategy. Now based in Miami, she has joined me at Grace Taylor PR. The name “Grace Taylor” is a nod to both of our middle names and represents the values we share as mother and daughter, storytellers, and publicists.
Following the sale of the magazine, I began representing entrepreneurs—many of whom I had met during my publishing years or were referred by past clients. I initially focused on promoting children’s products and services, drawing on my deep experience in the parenting space. Over time, I built strong media relationships across the country and secured placements in outlets such as The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, USA Today, MSN.com, PARENTS, HuffPost, PopSugar, Real Simple, Family Circle, and Health, along with countless local TV segments. One of my proudest moments was getting a client featured on the Today Show—a personal milestone I had long set my sights on.
Six years ago, I joined a top book publicity firm on the East Coast. That opportunity gave me the chance to dive deep into representing authors across every genre. I fell in love with the craft and developed a true specialty in book publicity—digging into each author’s story and building thoughtful, effective campaigns to help bring their work to the right audiences.
With renewed energy and a collaborative spirit, I launched Grace Taylor PR, a boutique book publicity firm committed to supporting both traditionally published and self-published authors. With Jordan now part of the firm, we’re blending decades of storytelling experience with modern strategy and a fresh perspective.
Now that you know a bit more about us, we’d love to learn more about you. If you have a book to share with the world, we’re ready to help you tell your story.
